Cassidy Knight, Executive Officer of the Starlight Elite, stood on the threshold of the cave that sheltered a fraction of her crew. She was lost in thought as Teron loomed before her, and she wondered how things had gone so wrong, so fast.
She closed her eyes with a sigh. This is what I get for wilfully forgetting that routine reconnaissance runs are rarely routine.
Cassidy let her body lean against the side of the cave and crossed her arms over her chest. They had been monitoring the airwaves for three days now, and still no word from either side. No Teron comm.-chatter and no Clesian confirmation that her distress signal and truncated report had reached High Command back on Ariah.
